Being so far from home can feel disorienting; people may look or act differently than you’re used to, and when something familiar appears, you tend to grasp it more for what it means to you rather than for what it really is.
These drawings and texts come from my second trip to the U.S.A., when I filled my sketchbook with everything I absorbed while being there: experiences, people I met, things I saw, signs, meals, conversations, noises and thoughts.
It’s something I can’t help doing—not only on trips but everywhere I go. Keeping my eyes and mind open, I try to interpret what’s in front of me by capturing it with one or another medium and hopefully bring home sharp memories.
